3 Effective Ways To Fix PS3 Internet Connection Problems

I had trouble connecting PS3 to the internet the other day. I kept getting an error message on my screen when connecting. However, my laptop can access the internet very well through the same router. Fortunately, after some time-consuming research, I found a way to fix this PS3 internet connection problem. Here’s what I did …

First of all, update my wireless router. As you may know, the router’s driver software needs to be regularly updated to keep it working at its best. Make sure it is updated to the latest version to avoid potential hassles.

Second, change the SSID and WEP password. SSID (Service Set Identifier) is the name of your wireless network. You can discover different wireless networks listed there, choose your own. Remember to lower security if you use WEP encryption because high security can cause Internet problems on the PS3. And add your PS3 as an accepted device if your WAPs are set to filter MAC address.

Third, go to Internet Connection Settings. PS3 internet connection problems are often solved by changing network settings. Follow the steps listed below:

a) Change your DNS server address to OpenDNS servers: 208.67.222.222, and make sure your PS3 setting is auto / easy.

b) Find the IP address of your router.

c) Open a web browser (Firefox, which is what I use) on a computer connected to your router (for the PS3 browser to not work, you must use a computer).

d) Manually type the IP address of your router in the address bar.

e) Make sure to enter the correct username and password that you have set up if prompted. If you’ve never set one up, you must enter the default username and password. You can find them in your router’s manual. Try username “admin” without password in case you can’t get information there. But there is little chance that you can pass.

f) Once logged in, manually enter “Primary and Secondary DNS”. Enter the DNS address 208.67.222.222 as primary and 208.67.220.220 as secondary.

g) Check and see if the PS3 internet connection problem still exists.

I hope they are helpful.
