3 Elder Scrolls Online Sorcerer Builds

Like all ESO classes, Sorcerers are extremely flexible. There is a wide range of options for players who want to create a sorcerer, from a summoner to a combat mage and more. Players who are used to traditional MMO mage classes have the option to ignore stamina and weapon abilities and play a Sorcerer as a pure storm mage. Players who want to create something different have a wide range of options to experiment with. Here are three possible settings to help you decide what kind of wizard you want to play.

Summoners / Combat Control

Combat control is no longer a popular playstyle. In many MMO groups, a good tank and a healer can work together to make combat control unnecessary. At the same time, a good combat controller can make a huge difference in battle and allow the healer and tank to focus on their primary responsibilities. The Sorcerer’s combination of summoning abilities combined with debuffs make him a powerful combat controller.

Summoners / Combat Controllers will need enough skill with weapons to defeat the weakened enemy or two that stand in their way, but most of all they need Magicka and her Storm Spirits.

Combat magicians

There are fighters, there are wizards, and then there are wizards. With magic reinforcing their attacks, combat mages force their way through their enemies, blasting lightning bolts and slicing off heads. With Storm Autarchs for backup and a delight in battle, Combat Mages is definitely not your typical MMO type of wizard.

Elder Scrolls online Warlock builds for combat mages typically have heavy DPS. Tank variations are entirely possible. The need to balance Magicka and Stamina can be challenging, especially while keeping health from being a full discharge stat. Still, a combat mage will normally do well in both solo play and group play.

Lightning rod

Sorcerer skills are divided into DPS, Combat Control, and Defense. By combining combat control and defense skills, you can create a Tank Sorcerer that draws all enemies towards him so that his friends can finish them off. A Lightning Rod Sorcerer arrives in the middle of the battle and uses traps, AoE, and defensive abilities to keep enemies on track.

Unlike the combat mage, a lightning rod has heavy magic and enough health to stay alive. Resistance is useful but not really necessary. As a group they shape the battle around them. Solo play can be more challenging, but a well-built lightning rod can handle most missions without too much trouble.

Obviously, these are just general descriptions of some Elder Scrolls Online Sorcerer builds. The wide variety of options available means that there are easily dozens of variations on each of these builds, and several other build types as well. When building a Sorcerer, be careful not to specialize too much, as it is very easy for them to become a classic “squishy” wizard-type character. Whatever you do, enjoy the power of having a storm at your fingertips. Warlocks are an amazing class to play with.
