“Wait a minute, the stone is glowing,” said Chang. Maylin stared at her hands in shock as the stone began to glow. “It’s getting hot!” she screamed. Startled, she quickly replaced the stone on the statue and backed away. She and Chang ran nonstop back to her room.

They were scared and breathless as they stood in their bedroom. “That was weird,” Chang said. “Yes, thanks for burning me, how am I going to be ready for tomorrow now?” She asked her almost crying. “I am sorry”. maylinChang said trying to comfort her. “Just get out!” he yelled. Chang turned and walked away heartbroken. Chang liked her. maylin and he just wanted to help her but he had made things worse. Maylin lay on her bed and cried herself to sleep.

The sun came out and last night felt like a dream. The sound of a rooster crowing woke up maylin up. He looked at his hands and they weren’t burned. It must have been a dream, she thought. Maylin started to smile as she got out of bed and followed the rest of her roommates to breakfast. As everyone rushed into the dining room, she spotted Chang in the crowd. “Change!” she yelled as she ran towards him. “Aren’t you mad anymore?” she asked. “About?” she asked confused. “About last night, that you burned your hands?” he asked. “Did that really happen?” she asked. “I thought I was dreaming,” she said as she held her hands up. “The burns are gone,” Chang said in amazement.

Maylin and Chang ate breakfast as fast as they could. They were anxious to get to the patio and see if the stone had worked. Maylin and Chang finished eating before everyone else in their class and ran to the patio to try by Maylin skills. First, Chang taught her the basics of hitting and blocking.
