Why choose traditional herbal medicines over modern ones?

The traditional word is used to define the different types of medicines that are invented with non-scientific knowledge systems. In other words, the art of awakening humanity with the healing power of Ayurveda and herbal medicines is considered as conventional as it has developed over generations and traditional practices. Nowadays, people are moving faster towards modern medicines even for mild headache and the drug percentage in such medicines is damaging their body to the extreme.

There is no doubt that modern medicine as if allopathic involves a certain percentage of drugs to relieve pain or to break any reaction in the body. Since not everyone is immune from swallowing these drugs, these people are sensitive to these drugs, making their conditions even worse. Another drawback of modern medicines is their high cost, which does not fit into the pocket of every individual. On the other hand, traditional medicines are cost-effective and effective for the number of diseases that modern medicines have failed to treat. The type of medicines best treat the disease in a holistic way without causing side effects.

There are certain herbs and remedies in different regions and cultures that cure serious problems like asthma, kidney stones, chills, fever, diarrhea, cough, and other diseases. The modernizing tradition is making ancient remedies truly mainstream by incorporating deep understanding and factual knowledge into modern medical care. Little by little, this undeniable branch of medication is developing while meeting modern standards of safety and efficacy. Beyond the sustainability of the natural resource, the combination of traditional and modern currents has faced challenges at different stages from key differences in the way they are practised, managed and evaluated. There is no legal protection on the formulation of the Ayurvedic approach to available knowledge, while there are strict rules on modern media.

Write down the differences between the modern and ancient era of medicines:-

  • Protection of knowledge – The traditional approach is open to access, while modern medicines are closed and patent protected. This restriction does not allow others to imitate the formulation and they have to spend millions to buy the formula.
  • Regulation – The formation of medicines through the traditional approach does not follow any virtual yet. However, some countries are working on introducing new rules and standardizing them. On the other hand, the modern media is extremely strict with the regulations to bring any new medicine to the market.
  • Evidence- When medicines are prepared using the traditional approach, there is no formal testing as the knowledge of medicines is considered effective and practical as it is practiced from generation to generation. However, modern means are limited to rigorous tests that are even carried out in different terms of safety and efficacy.
