Your words are containers of power

Your words are containers of power. With the tongue we bless God and we curse men. “From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, this should not be so.” (James 3: 9-10) What does that really mean? It is understandable that we should not curse our fellow men. However, whenever you jokingly utter a negative word, such as, “You are crazy,” it may unknowingly offend the recipient and turn into a curse.

Jesus Christ is the Word and dwelt among us (John 1: 1 – 5) He created everything by His Word and then took on the flesh and nature of man, in essence making His Words audible to mankind. He did not utter any idle words. Every Word that came out of His mouth was specifically sent to do something. He spoke of healing, deliverance, teaching about the Kingdom of God and compassion. His Words are containers of Power.

For those who honor God’s Word, words become life! To those who sought to kill him, Jesus said:

“My word has no place in you. I speak what I have seen with my Father, and you do what you have seen with your father.” (Elsewhere amplify: your father the devil) (John 8: 37-38)

Those are sobering words! It makes you realize that unless you are completely and constantly wrapped up in God’s Word, the words you say are not the ones you hear Him speak to you.

Okay, even though you are not of the world, you are in it and influenced by it. The most important fact is that when Jesus made the universe exist, it did. When he spoke of healing, it was done. Everything he said came true!

“So will my Word that comes out of my mouth be: it will not return to me empty, but it will do what I want, and it will prosper in what I sent it to.” (Isaiah 56:11)

Likewise, everything you and I say will come to pass! In other words, your words are spiritual containers of power. No matter what you say, there is a degree of power in it. The degree depends on the faith you put behind the words. If you say healing, reassuring, comforting and loving words, they will achieve what you believe in.

On the contrary, when you speak negative words of disbelief, condemnation, discouragement and fear, and believe it, they will be fulfilled!

So, be careful when you feel like sharing your opinion with someone! Similarly, talk about good and health things about yourself. Don’t think you’re going to get the flu just because it’s the season or because everyone around you has it! Speak healing verses of Scripture about you and your loved ones, apply a good dose of faith, thank the Lord for his Word that says:

“Beloved, I want more than anything that you are prosperous and healthy, just as your soul prospers.” (3 John 2)

Keep in mind that good thoughts produce good words that, in turn, produce good fruit:

“The good man from the good treasure of his heart brings out what is good; and the evil man from the evil treasure of his heart brings out what is bad; for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.” (Luke 6:45) and:

“Every idle word that men speak, they will give an account of it on the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” (Matthew 12:36 – 37)

Be encouraged! You can really make miracles happen by speaking God’s Word with faith in every situation in your life! As long as you find yourself going off on a tangent and speaking negative words, that’s fine. Tell the Lord that you are sorry and keep practicing to speak Life about yourself and others. God is good and willing to forgive!

“Therefore, now there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.” (Romans 8: 1)

It is food to start the day praying:

“May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to your eyes, oh Lord, my strength and my redeemer.” (Psalms 19:14)
