Apple’s new iPhone has become the new craze, but there are many people wondering how these smartphones work with other operating systems, their battery/replacement, etc. Here are some common iPhone-related facts to help you determine if this is the phone for you.

Microsoft Windows Compatibility: iPhone will work with Windows XP Home or Professional (SP2) and Windows Vista.

International capacity: The iPhone is actually a quad-band GSM phone and will work anywhere in the world where GSM coverage is available. However, roaming and international dialing must be enabled through AT&T.

The iPhone and email systems: iPhone supports POP3 and IMAP and works with most popular email services, like Yahoo! Mail, AOL, .Mac Mail and Google Gmail.

Charging the iPhone: A USB 2.0 cable that comes with iPhone charges the phone while it’s connected to your computer or a USB power adapter (also included). Generally, the iPhone has 8 hours of talk time, 7 hours of video playback. 6 hours of Internet use and about 24 hours of audio playback when fully charged to original capacity. The phone also has up to 250 hours of standby time.

Battery change: The iPhone battery was designed to retain up to 80% of its original capacity after 400 full charge/discharge cycles. The battery will not need to be replaced until it can no longer hold a sufficient charge to meet your needs.

Website display: iPhone comes with the Safari web browser and lets you visit websites just like you would on your personal computer.

Internet access: If you can’t get a Wi-Fi connection, you can still access the Internet using AT&T’s Edge data network.
