Well, search engines like to see a diversity of inbound links, and if ALL your links come from 4 or 5 popular article directories, at some point, the law of diminishing returns kicks in.

So what are the alternatives?

Honestly? Take your links from a multitude of places and use your article links wisely. How do I mean? Very simple. Link to a variety of different places within your site, and use a variety of different anchor text links in your resource box to increase the value of each and every submission. (i.e. use internal pages and anchor text that is highly relevant to THOSE internal pages when submitting for SEO)

My biggest recommendation?

I think the biggest and best use of each and every article you submit is for list building. If you’re building a list, each and every piece of content you create provides you with real, tangible, actionable value that you can measure. And there’s no better (or faster) way to push those proverbial benefits than to build a list… and that’s something we can ALL agree on.
