Destiny’s House of Wolves Expansion Preview

Bungie raised the curtain on the full list of content to launch House of Wolves, the second major expansion to the MMO shooter Destiny. This Destiny Expansion reveal, complete with trailer, showcases new story missions, new multiplayer maps, a new co-op mode, a new competitive event, a new mission hub, a new strike mission, and the new top-tier gear.

This expansion forces players to hunt down the House of the Wolves, a faction of the Fallen that rebelled against the Queen of the Awakened. Players meet the Queen’s forces in Vestian Outpost, a new social space on Reef. The Wolves bit the hand that showed them mercy after the Fallen invasion failed, and the Queen vows to reward those who carry out her vengeance.

The most exclusive new multiplayer content for House of Wolves is the Trials of Osiris competitive event. The reveal of HOW Expansion introduces the multiplayer Elimination mode, in which two teams of three participate in a best-of-nine series of deathmatches with no respawn. Players can revive their downed teammates, but the rounds will be quick. The twist is that the reward system revolves around items that record your gains and losses. If your team accumulates three losses, the item buys nothing and you have to start over. However, there are team rewards for a win streak of two, three, five, six, seven and eight.

There are also four new multiplayer maps, one of which is exclusive to the PlayStation 4 timed. However, Trials of Osiris will take place on only one multiplayer map per week. HOW appears to be a promising addition to the diversity of challenges that Destiny brings to its Guardians. With the addition of Prison of Elders, I feel like Destiny has given the reins to the players and I’m sure we’re up to the task.

The new cooperative content includes a survival mode called Prison of Elders and an attack mission, The Shadow Thief. Both send players up the team ladder to the new top-tier team, designed with an Egyptian pantheon motif. This expansion will also increase the leveling stops on older equipment, giving new life to outdated equipment. However, what’s conspicuously missing from this expansion is any word from a new foray.

The Destiny House of Wolves expansion reveal shows the content that will be released on May 19. Mark the last full content patch included in the purchase of the original Season Pass. Get it on Xbox One and PS4.
