Does social media make you feel unsocial? How to use social media and simplify social media strategies

I have no doubt that social media (for most) can be exhausting. You’ve got Facebook, YouTube, Myspace, Tweeter, no wait… Twitter, Linkedin, Digg, Squidoo, Friendster, Ning, bacon, lettuce, cheese, special sauce on a sesame seed bun. … Wait

As you learn to tweet with your Tweeples and try to decipher the latest tech jargon (“What’s a vlog?!”), you’re already… happening.

Here are some tips on how to use social media and SIMPLIFY your social media routine:

1. Use tools to save time
There are programs to save you time and energy when chatting with people and adding friends to your social network pages. These programs like TweetDeck, TwitterFriend Adder, TubeBlaster Pro are a godsend for me! I don’t have time to sit down and add a new friend every 10 minutes… because Tubeblaster does it for me. And TweetDeck? Manage all my status updates, @replies and DMs for Twitter.

2. Focus on high-impact messages
Keep your messages concise and only use high-impact content. Post news related to your industry… share useful links… post things that are fun and inspiring, with intriguing insider information about your business.
This will reduce your TOTAL communication and make you much more appreciated by your followers. Sending random and useless information will be interpreted as spam and will be downright annoying.

3. Don’t read everything, just scan
Browse through status updates, videos, and posts…focusing on the things that are important to you or that you’d like to give feedback on.

4. Pick a few – Throw away the rest
Unless you’re a full-time social media marketer, you probably don’t have time to spend all day on every major SM site. So pick a few that offer you the most value and throw the rest away. For me, it’s YouTube, Twitter and Facebook. Maybe you’re more of a Myspace person? That’s great… Your choices will be different. But in the end, be selective and watch your time wisely.

5. Manage your time wisely
Schedule social media on your schedule. Do you have 10 minutes every morning? But how about a half hour MWF? But make sure you have limits: the rest of your life should be considered sacred as well.
