Real estate expired and for sale by owner letters

One of the hardest things for real estate agents to do would be to put a pen on the paper and create a letter that they can mail to homeowners who have an expired listing or who may be selling on their own. Past-Due Listings For Sale By Owner (FSBO) are an essential part of becoming a successful realtor. So what exactly do you say in your letter that will pique the owner’s interest? Would it be the old worn line that says you have buyers for your home?

That being said, would there be any additional interesting information for them? If not, your letter goes into that famous circular file. All your hard work, wrinkled and gone. Not only that, it is a well known fact that a letter alone will not produce any results. Homeowners are certainly not rushing to your phone to call you pleading to come and list their property.

Here are some topic ideas on what to submit

  • So your house didn’t sell, but this is how I can help you
  • I specialize in finding unsold homes.
  • You shouldn’t give up
  • Identify the reasons why your home did not sell
  • I can put MORE money in your pocket than you could sell on your own
  • Have a lot of real estate agents been calling you?

It generally requires a series of letters in sequential order for it to be recognized. Which means that now it is more than one letter that you have to compose, it becomes a number of letters. This also means a number of good ideas that need to come together to become a well thought out marketing campaign. Without a doubt, writing a letter is quite difficult, writing a series of letters is a struggle.

Try sitting down with a blank sheet of paper and start a letter. Do you find yourself looking at that blank sheet of paper searching for an idea in your mind? Just a good idea! It’s not that easy, is it? How much time and effort are you going to have to spend getting all those letters written? Another task is to check all those letters. Possibly the worst thing you can do is send a letter full of spelling and grammatical errors. It is best done by someone else or perhaps a computer program. Do you have time for all this?

As soon as you start the writing process, you will quickly conclude that the amount of time invested may cost you more money than buying letters. Well, there is good news, you can buy cards from a professional and be ready to go. There is a great advantage to buying real estate letters, they can cost a dollar or less per letter. A tremendous bargain, if I may say so.

When you finish your letters, you will have to send them. You’d better send them out consistently so that the owner sees your name frequently. You will need to keep track of the letters you mailed to whom. You don’t want to send the same letter to someone twice. There are contact management programs available that can do it for you. All you have to do is search for contact management programs using the web to find them. I would recommend a follow-up phone call to the owners or perhaps a face-to-face visit to further build a relationship. What you want is to create the opportunity for a consideration to list your property. Good luck!
