Things to see in Granada – The Island of Spice

Grenada is one of the top destinations in the Caribbean for both North American and European visitors. The relaxed yet festive atmosphere of the island is something that visitors can enjoy throughout the year and will add to your enjoyment of the island. In addition to beautiful beaches, there are many places to see and activities to do on the island, making it the ideal vacation spot for tourists.

Beautiful beaches

There are white sand and even black sand beaches in Granada. In addition to the well-known Grand Anse beach, there are other beautiful beaches to explore. Make a plan to visit beautiful David Beach (pronounced ‘Darvi’) to enjoy the coconut palms, white sand, and gentle waves lapping at your feet.

Chocolate factory

The Granada Chocolate Factory uses locally grown cocoa beans to produce its award-winning chocolate. Not only does it taste good, but it is packaged with a colorful label that makes it one of the best gifts you can give your colleagues, friends and family.

Nutmeg Factories

In addition to the chocolate factories, there is the nutmeg. As one of the largest exporters of nutmeg in the world, Grenada processes tons per year. It is possible to see how it is processed in addition to cocoa/cocoa. Guided tours will entertain, fascinate and inform you.

Natural reserves

The reserves were originally created to protect the rainforests around Grand Etang. Now they have spread out and encompass water as well as land. Coral reefs are also protected. Be sure to visit Levera Park so you can see the turtles laying eggs from April to June.

Just off the north coast of Grenada, it’s possible to cross the channel to visit tranquil Sandy Island. You can stay for the day and soak up the sun, or just for a picnic at lunchtime. The beach is beautiful and there is a beautiful view of Granada as well as excellent snorkeling.

Visit the site where the last of Grenada’s Carib Indians jumped to their deaths to escape French rule. Located near the town of Sauteurs, this place is one of Granada’s historical landmarks. The northern part of the island is beautiful and unspoiled and should be part of any tourist’s itinerary to Grenada.
