Weight Loss: Why A Holistic Approach To Weight Loss Is Better

The following article is one in a series of articles focusing on self-improvement, motivation, and empowerment. It is based on research conducted over twenty years as a personal and business trainer. This self-improvement article was written in response to questions that have been asked about exercise, staying fit, losing weight, and long term weight loss as well as address common challenges people have with this topic. I sincerely hope you find the following information valuable.

Weight Loss: Why A Holistic Approach To Weight Loss Is Better

People have problem areas. Even people who have reached their ideal body weight will still have problem areas. I know I am one of them: at 57 they are my “love tires”. In others, it may be flabby arms, sagging skin, or hips. Then you will find that the market offers all kinds of products, from creams and applications to eliminate fat to devices and machines to tone arms, thighs or legs.

However, we all have to face the harsh truth. The stain cannot be reduced. Attempting to do so is not going to work and could be detrimental to your determination and well-being.

Ok, so why can’t I reduce the spots?

The diet and weight loss markets continue to misinform the public about the benefits to be expected from their so-called revolutionary products when in reality there are no revolutionary or “miracle” results to look forward to.

Maintaining a healthy diet is important

Diet is an important element in getting rid of unwanted body fat. The food you eat has calories and cholesterol that are stored in your body, probably building up in those problem areas of yours. Our diet is, in general, the main reason for the presence of fat in the body.

So no matter how much you depend on those miracle gadgets or potions on the market, you will still be a lost cause if you continue to indulge in sugars, fatty foods, and junk foods.

Spot reduction is nothing more than a myth

Having spent more than 20 years in personal development and self-improvement, I have learned that the most effective and productive attitude is to look at our personal challenges holistically.

It’s not healthy to believe what certain marketers say about the productivity of spot reduction efforts. The products you see on the market require nothing more than blending or applying to problem areas. What about the other parts of your body?

What about the other full body requirements?

In any healthy endeavor, you need to be on top of your physiology. You must know what it takes to achieve a goal. For example, if you want the infamous six pack in your stomach, you have to know what it takes to get it.

Some people would say that if you want to improve the appearance of your stomach, you simply have to focus on abdominal exercises or use the equipment that will do the exercise for you. Again, you can’t spot reduce.

Yes, ab exercises work: I do them every day, but I also know that I will never maintain a ripped abs just by doing that ab exercise.

Genetics has to do with it.
Diet has to do with it.
Lifestyle has to do with it.

The truth is, before we can aim for a six pack in our stomachs, we first need to get rid of the fats.

Your body will not burn the fats stored in that place where you are going. The most complete body workouts can actually address this. With this, fats are burned one at a time, and not just in one area. By taking this more integrated approach to reducing fat in the body, we will see a much more effective and long-lasting result.

Then you will also have to gain body mass. At this point, the only way you can just get rid of the fats and gain some body mass is to have a healthy diet and do cardio exercises.

Only after you exceed the diet and cardio requirements can you focus on abdominal exercises. This is the only right time to really focus on working out for that six pack.

There are no and never will be shortcuts

Diets, miracle pills and potions are mere shortcuts that will lead to disappointment. If a healthy body is your long-term goal, you need to work towards it. You have to earn it.

We may be living in an age that seems to be getting faster and faster – technology, transportation, for example – but our bodies still follow the same natural ways. Therefore, we still need to understand and get the basics right about what the body naturally requires: a healthy diet, regular exercise, and a considerable amount of time and effort to develop the desired result.

Ongoing, long-term health and fitness require commitment

Your dedication to the health of your body is a lifetime commitment. Even if you have achieved a good body now, it will not stay that way forever if you abuse your diet and lifestyle. He needs to be loved and cared for, regularly.

That’s why if you rely on spot reduction claims, it won’t really get you anywhere.
Worse, it will lead to disappointment. Much worse, you may give up completely.

Never give up. If your goal is a fit and healthy body; get yourself an exercise program and make some changes to your diet. Give yourself a holistic development. Improve not only the body, but also your outlook on life.
