Yesilirmak Cyprus is a legend

In 1927, the Swedish king’s son along with a group of European archaeologists found strong evidence supporting this theory during a survey of the area and the finds are now on display at the Southern Cyprus Archaeological Museum.

During the excavations, the archaeologists of the group that had set out to study the civilizations of the Mediterranean came across several polished objects dating back 4,000 years. While other ancient evidence has not been revealed in excavations in other parts of the island. So it was concluded that: “Human life in this little part of a corner of the sky, Cyprus, began more than 4000 years ago.”

There were just reasons why the first Cypriots chose this region as a settlement. These people, who arrived via Anatolia, found an area that was geographically extremely fertile and abundant in water. Abundant water, filtered from the natural source in the Troodos Mountains, would flow exuberantly into the Mediterranean from the riverbeds it had formed. Due to its favorably located bays and convenient coastline and ports, it offered the region brilliant opportunities in shipping and trade.

Regarding security, especially in the area in which Yesilirmak Village is located today, he formed strategic positions. The settlement area is surrounded by 30 large and small hills. In the past, thanks to the observation towers that were built here, it was possible to detect pirate attacks in advance and take the necessary precautions immediately. Thus, during the most recent intercommunal clashes, the 30 strategic hills played an important role regarding the defense of the village, making it one of the rare corners of the island that the Turkish defenses were able to protect and resist attacks. . for years.

The fact that the Yesilirmak resistance did not collapse provided great advantages to other troubled Turkish areas of the island at the time, and practically offered them a chance at life. Yesilirmak was the most important agricultural potential that fed the Turkish areas that were besieged both economically and militarily. The fruits and vegetables of this region, in terms of quality, are first class.

The exquisiteness of the region’s geography is practically embellished in its products. Especially strawberries, bananas, almonds and walnuts are the most excellent. The people of Yesilirmak, who are extremely hard-working and creative, have the ability to earn a living through any type of work. The more expensive owners of Yesilirmak do not easily sell their land to foreigners.
