7 adventure travel ideas for the new year

If adventure travel is part of your New Year’s resolution, here are some ideas that will really make your next year one to remember for years to come.

Traveling is one of those things many of us want to do, but instead of the usual beach vacation where you lie down and relax for 2 weeks straight, why not take a more active and exciting approach with adventure travel?

1. Do the Inca Trail

The ancient lands of Peru are a place of magic and wonder, where you can follow in the footsteps of one of the most complex empires in the world; the Incas.

2. Visit the Galapagos Islands

This is one of the most naturally beautiful places in the world, with unique wildlife found nowhere else. It is also the place where Charles Darwin introduced the theory of “survival of the fittest”. Sailing, snorkeling, and visiting the giant tortoises is just part of the fun to be had here.

3. SS President Coolidge Wreck Diving

This wreck dive is located in Santos Espiritu, which is one of the most popular islands in Vanuatu. The ship itself was a luxury liner that was taken over by the US military before sinking in a friendly mine. It is considered one of the most accessible wrecks for scuba diving.

4. Climb Mount Kilimanjaro

What better way to experience the vast African wilderness than from the peaks of Tanzania’s Mount Kilimanjaro. The fittest and altitude come into play here, as the peak reaches over 19,000 feet.

5. Visit Yellowstone National Park

This National Park was the first in the world and it is also one of the most visited in America. It is well known for its geyser field which is home to up to 500 geysers within the park. Plus, wildlife viewing is yet another reason to visit, including more than 60 mammals.

6. Ice caving

A famous cave found in Austria is the Eisriesenwelt caves, which are limestone caves that have formed icicles at the cave entrance in the Alps. It is the largest ice cave in the world and is open between April and October each year.

7. Visit the Sundarban Rainforest

Visit the mangrove and swamp forest which is located on the border of Bangladesh and West Bengal, India and is home to the endangered Bengal tigers. It is also excellent for wildlife viewing of many other species including the abundant birdlife, jungle cats, mongoose and the unusual looking crocodile known as the Gharial.

There are many more adventures in the world, but this list will give you some ideas and hopefully kick start your thought process about which adventure trips you want to go on.
