Brief description of the new Tata Tiago Hatchback

Introduction

Tata’s ambitious new small car, Tata Tiago, has made its way to the Indian car markets. This Tata Motors hatchback is the result of joint collaboration between the company’s design studios based in Pune, Italy and the UK. It comes with a new design language unlike other models from the company. He first became known as Tata Zica a few months ago, but was renamed Tiago. This hatchback looks very stylish both inside and out, as Tata engineers have put in their hard work and efforts to build a quality product. Now let’s start exploring the car to the fullest.

Style:

The new Tata Tiago hatchback is an attractive car unlike most of the car models from the Indian automaker. As mentioned above, Tata Motors has put a lot of effort into the quality part and it shows off. As you can see, there are no signs of cost reduction in any interior or exterior section. It comes with a solid construction with quality down to the smallest detail.

Exteriors:

Needless to say, the new Tata Tiago has the best exterior styling in its segment. This car looks better than other flimsy-looking cars in the entry-level segment. It has a bold front fascia with a distinctive new design, complemented by a host of chrome inserts. This one, unlike ‘Indica’ or ‘Bolt’, has a newer design language that is sure to catch the eye of viewers. Even the relationship between the body and the wheel seems finer than that of the other Tata models. In our opinion folks, the Tata Tiago is the most attractive car ever designed by Tata Motors.

Interiors:

Moving on to the interiors, this car has a premium cabin unlike most entry-level cars today. The color scheme has a two-tone finish and comes with metallic highlights and glossy black. The only disappointment of the cabin is that its interior space is suitable for four adults instead of five. This car has a premium audio system designed by Harman with 8 speakers on board. In addition, it comes with a multifunctional steering unit that assists the driver.

Engine and performance:

This small car comes with gasoline and diesel engine options like any other small hatchback. Its gasoline engine belongs to the Revotron family, but the cylinder configuration has been reduced. While the diesel engine is a completely new engine that looks promising.

1.2 liter Revotron gasoline:

Despite the reduction in the number of cylinders, the engine pumps out the same power as its 4-cylinder counterpart. This 119 produces a healthy 85 hp at 6000 rpm and a torque of 114 Nm at 3500 rpm. The engine feels loud at times, but overall it does its job well. The driving experience on city roads is fine, but on highways it could be much better.

Another specialty is that the engine comes with two different driving modes; Eco and City. City mode is a normal driving mode, while Eco is designed for greater fuel efficiency.

Transmission: As of now, it comes with only a five-speed manual gearbox.

Mileage: The gasoline version of the Tata Tiago offers a healthy mileage of 23.84 kmpl, which is exceptional.

1.05-liter Diesel Revotorq:

This is a gem of a motor that will not disappoint. This 1047 cc power plant is based on common rail fuel injection technology and comes integrated with an “ECU” engine management system. This engine produces 70 hp of maximum power at 4000 rpm along with 140 Nm of maximum torque between 1800 and 3000 rpm.

Transmission: Like the gasoline engine, this one also comes with a five-speed manual transmission.

Mileage: According to the company’s claims, this engine can return a mileage of 27.28 kmpl, which is perhaps the best in its class.

Characteristics:

The car is currently offered in five trim levels; ‘XB’, ‘XE’, ‘XM’, ‘XT’ and ‘XZ’. Among these, the XB is the base variant, which has a few essentials like a blower, electric power steering unit, remote fuel and tailgate opener, 7-speed front wiper, driver’s footrest, and internally adjustable exterior mirror. The next XE variant in line has an air conditioning unit along with a front power outlet and some optional features.

XZ is the high-spec variant that gets the most features, like a ‘Harman’ in-car entertainment system, cooled glove compartment, alloy wheels, LED fuel and temperature indicator, power-adjustable exterior mirrors, and much more.

Safety:

In this section, dual front airbags are standard only for the high-end XZ variant. However, variants like the XE, XM, and XT have front airbags as an optional feature. One disappointing fact is that features like ABS with EBD and cornering stability control are available only for the top-end variant. In addition, the smart rear wiper features with windshield washer, rear defroster and front fog lights have been offered for the high-spec model only.

Verdict:

The new Tata Tiago is a good car for families and individuals looking to buy their first car. Furthermore, it is one of the most stylish and affordable cars in the entry-level segment. Despite concerns about reliability, you can put your money on the new Tiago hatchback, as the company focused heavily on its build quality.
