In the new World of Warcraft Cataclysm expansion, there has been an increase in demand for vanity pets, the little companion that follows the player wherever they go.
These are non-combat pets, meaning you don’t get any “real” upgrades with them, but they look cool and people have a lot of gold to spend on Cataclysm.
These toiletries become more and more popular every day, I bet most of you reading have at least 3-4 different pets. My friend, who is level 20, sold 2 parrots he got from Dead Mines for over 100 gold each, and the drop rate is pretty high, so he’s almost guaranteed to get at least 1 every run (if you go alone). This is why he should sell vanity pets.
Due to the new high demand for vanity pets, the price on the auction house has increased a lot. The best thing is that people may throw up a 500g pet for 10g because they don’t know the real value of these. So if you want to start making money, you may want to get into the toilet pet market.
In previous expansions, they could be sold for around 10-50 gold, but in Cataclysm, the same pet that sold for 50g in WotLK now sells for over 500 gold.
One of the best strategies to know about is Cross Faction pets, because these items will be much harder for the opposing faction to get (alliance pets for horde and vice versa). What you need to do is go to the goblin auctioneer in Stranglethorn valley. , you need 2 accounts for this to work (you can’t sell and buy the auction with the same character). So bring a friend.
If your main character is a horde, you should buy guild exclusive pets at the auction house and from vendors, then go to the goblin auctioneer in Stranglethorn Vale and put them up for around 10coppar – 1 silver, don’t sell them expensive because the auction house cut is 15% so if you sell a pet there for 100g you will only get 85g in the letterbox.
So you put them in the AH and tell your friend to buy them, once he buys them just travel back to orgrimmar/uc or any city you prefer that has an auction house and just sell them there for the price of current market, this is a cheap gold making strategy that can make a 1000% profit.
These probably won’t sell the first time you put them on the AH, some will, but you may need to keep them there for a few days, don’t drop your price unless you have a competitor selling the same thing.
