Movie Review – Huppa Huiyya

Today’s Marathi cinema has long been solidified by embracing the best resources and strategically depositing them where commercial advantage and success has been secured. Akshara Films Division releases this week the film ‘Huppa Huiyya…! Directed by well-known film director Anil Surve, it makes one realize that when all is lost in life’s battles, the only ray of hope that comes out of the period of adversity is to keep the lamp of faith burning. The film is presented by Samit Kakkad and Dream View Productions Pvt. Ltd and produced by Amar Kakkad and Pushpa Kakkad. Sachin Kakkad is the executive producer in charge.

The shooting of this comedy film was completed in a short span of 32 days at the historical sites of Satara and Vai, a holy place situated on the banks of the Krishna river. Located in rural Maharashtra ‘Huppa Huiyya…!’ check out 11 Hanuman temples, formed by Shri Ramdaas Swami. Director Anil Surve has for the first time featured renowned actor Siddharth Jadhav (Hanmiya) in the lead role.

Hanmiya is a very innocent boy, the son of Sarpanch and a great devotee of Lord Hanumaan who selflessly works for the people of his village. The only lady who can make his heart melt like jelly is Girija Oak (Vasanti). The light of divine will continues to find Hanmiya blessed with magical power that he cannot use more than 11 times. Reason, the eleven mystic powers of him are related to the eleven temples of Hanuman correctly depicted in a song which is also an interesting part of this movie.

The music is by Ajit Parab who is reputed for some of his popular numbers for movies like De Dhakka, Mee Shivajiraje Bhosale Boltoy, Shikshanachya Aaicha Gho and many more. The film is written by Hemant Edlabadkar and lyrics by Baba Chavan. Photography by AK Bir and action by Javed-Aejaz. Other stellar cast includes Mohan Joshi, Usha Nadkarni, Ganesh Yadav, Mangesh Desai, Maansi Mangikar, Vaibhav Mangale, Kushal Badrike, Nilesh Divekar, Poonam Jadhav and a guest appearance by Kashmera Shah.

In a nutshell, Huppa Huiyya makes the audience realize that things work in our life when we listen to our inner voice. What if we are blessed with mystical powers in real life? Would one use those powers for a social cause like Hanmiya or harness them for our own selfish motives? The film gives a good symbolic message about faith, hope and love. Marathi film lovers would enjoy the combination of fantastic comedy that involves both action and romance. It just shows that faith relates to our mind as much as exercise relates to our body.
